Vernon Futrelle

Larry Futrelle age 70, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013 at his home in Palmyra. Funeral Services for Larry will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle, Iowa with Visitation from 9-11 am prior to Services. Private burial with military honors will follow in the Palmyra Cemetery. Larry was born on October 24, 1942 in Des Moines, Iowa to Don and Edna (Person)Futrelle. Larry graduated from Hartford High School and joined the United States Navy and later spent 20 years in the trucking industry and another 20 years running Futrelle Enterprises Lawn Care with his wife Nancy and 8 years as a rural carrier for the Runnells Postal Service. Larry enjoyed all sports as well as hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, sprint car racing and bowling. Larry was a member of the Carlisle American Legion #391, VFW #2099, Ducks Unlimited, NRA, The Iowa Softball Hall of Fame and the Hartford Sportsmans Club. Larry is survived by his loving wife Nancy of Palmyra; daughter Kristin(Gary)Wachal of Palmyra; step children Dennis Reeser of Indianola, Lori Reeser of Indianola and Darrell(Laura) Reeser of Carlisle; sisters Janet(Marty)Ray of Hartford and Vickie(Darrell)Till of Indianola; father in law Jack W. Viers of Swan; brothers in law Roger(Lana)Viers of Colorado, Buddy(Rhonda)Viers of Swan and Herb Collins of Swan; special nephew Charlie Futrelle of Palmyra as well as many other nieces and nephews and 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
