Thomas "Tom" Vernon Dodge, 75, passed away at home on February 12, 2022 from complications of Alzheimer's and Covid-19. A funeral service for Tom will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. A visitation will be held at 9:30am prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Avon Cemetery following services. The service will be livestreamed at www.petersonfuneralservice.com Tom was born in Des Moines, Iowa and was the first son of Vern and Jeanette Dodge (Wadsworth). His first job was at Dahl's Grocery Store on Fleur Drive. He also helped out at his grandparents' grocery store, DeYoung's Supermarket, on the south-side of Des Moines. He graduated from Lincoln High School and also Lincoln Technical Institute as a master mechanic. Tom was in the Army Reserves from 1967 to 1973, as a motor sergeant with Unit 372 Engineer Group Headquarters Company. In his later years, Tom worked as a service manager for Crescent and Wright Chevrolet as well as Watters Autoland. He enjoyed vacationing yearly in Branson, Missouri or just going for local car rides with Joyce and their little dog, Lola. Tom is survived by his wife, Joyce; Children, Tom (Tracie) Dodge, Sherri Cattell, Jason Cattell, Chad Dodge, and Abigail (Mark) Boone; grandchildren, Cheyenne Dodge, Mason Dodge, Hunter Dodge, Ashton Dodge, Hannah Dodge, Lyndsey Johnson, and Jameson Cattell; great-grandchildren, Grace Miller, Jayden Cattell, and Chastyn Gering; and a brother Larry (Michelle) Dodge. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and his step-father, Marvin Wadsworth. The family kindly requests in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Tom's name.
