Stanley Bruce Dalby passed away at home at the age of 79 on November 10, 2018. He was born in Des Moines, IA, on October 23, 1939, to his parents Jesse Leona Brown Dalby and Arthur Dalby. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Shirley and four children: Andrea (Scott) Spickard, John (Lisa) McGrath, Dana Dalby, and Ronald (Michelle) Dalby and seven grandchildren: Madeline and Macalister Spickard; Hannah, Sarah and Braxton McGrath; Kennedy and Gabriel Dalby.\n\nAfter Stan graduated from Des Moines Technical High School in 1957, he joined the army and then furthered his education at Grandview College. Stan was a screen printer and a small business owner most of his working life. After he sold his business he was employed as a sales representative for Midwest Supply Co. He continued to operate a small shop from his home after retirement.\n\nStan loved to fish, hunt, play golf and restoring a John Deere tractor. He cherished all the nights he spent rebuilding a 1952 Model A John Deere Tractor with his son Ron. Every Labor Day you could find him and Ron kicking tractor tires and comparing paint jobs at the Old Thresher's Reunion. \n\nStan loved all things that involved time with his family and he enjoyed a loyal group of lifelong friends who stood solidly beside him during good and bad times. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.\n\nA celebration of live will be held on Tuesday, November 20th at 11:30 am at Indianola Community Church located at 14424 Kennedy Street in Indianola. Lunch will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to his family.
