Ronald Keith Green, age 65, of Des Moines, IA (formerly of Mitchellville, IA), passed away peacefully, but most unexpectedly, on Friday, October 30, 2020 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center.\r\n\r\nRonald was born on June 13, 1955 to Walter Keith Green and Delores Anne Green (Carlock) in Des Moines, Iowa. Ron was raised and attended school in Mitchellville and graduated from Southeast Polk High School in 1973. \r\n\r\nWhile in high school, and for a time afterward, Ron enjoyed farming with his father, uncle and cousin. He worked hard, loved farm life and was a member of FFA (Future Farmers of America) in high school. Ron was taught to hunt as a young boy and enjoyed hunting and eating the game throughout his life. He was an excellent marksman and fondly remembered winning a rifle in his youth, competing against grown men. Ron also participated in the annual deer hunting seasons with life-long friends. He truly enjoyed the camaraderie of his father and the life-long friends that hunted with them. Dodie's deer chili or Mary Ferguson's deer tenderloins usually followed.\r\n\r\nRon married Julie Briar in 1975. Two daughters were born to this union, Sarah and Katie. Prior to their marriage Ron began working as an Emergency Dispatcher for the Polk County Sheriff's office. This basically became his life-long career. \r\n\r\nMidway through Ron's life he married his singing partner Dawn Stevenson. Ron and Dawn sang together locally and were featured at Prairie Meadows. Ron was offered a Nashville singing/touring contract but declined it to remain home with his wife. Amanda Ramirez and Nicole Stevenson, Dawn's children, grew up with them. Ron worked security at Principal Financial with some of his best friends. They invited him to join them after retiring from police work.\r\n\r\nIn June of 2011, Ron married his high school classmate Ranae (Prather) at Heritage Assembly of God. Ron stopped working at that time to help care for his father, Keith. Ron's health later declined and he resided with his mother at their Mitchellville farm. Ron was a devout believer in God. Ron trusted and thanked Jesus for his salvation. He spoke many times of looking forward to the great reunion he would have in Heaven upon his death.\r\n\r\nRon is survived by his wife, Ranae of Des Moines, IA and her daughter Mikki Whitmore; his sister JoAnn (Bud) Hartley, his former wife, Dawn Harms and her two daughters, Nicole Stevenson and Amanda (Charlie) Allen; his first wife, Julie Kuecker and their two daughters, Sarah (Casey) Harvey and Kathryn (Ryan) Buck. Ron was blessed with multiple grandchildren, Kaleigh Vesely, Griffin Vesely, Camrin Vesely, Kalista Vesely, Riley Johnson, Owen Johnson, Jaedyn Stites, Ava Lynch, Ella Harvey, Nolan Harvey, Matilda Harvey, Daniel Buck, Alex Buck, Silas Buck, a new Baby Buck on the way and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends from the Class of 1973. \r\n\r\nRonald was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his parents, Keith and Delores Green and many other family and friends.\r\n\r\nVisitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle, IA. There will be a limit of 25 persons in the building at any given time and those visiting are encouraged to self-distance. Wearing a mask is a requirement due to COVID-19.
