She was born Roberta Louise Inhofe December 20, 1922. Roberta was grateful to have been raised by godly parents whose faith in Jesus Christ she embraced for eternity. Her great appreciation for the beauty of God's creation found her most content in the woods, on a lake, in a garden, or watching a sunset. She enjoyed traveling with her husband in their camper; visiting loved ones and exploring America's beauty. \nMany peaceful days were spent on the lake at their cabin in Minnesota. She loved to create her own garden paradise wherever she lived, specializing in roses and lilies. Roberta was an accomplished seamstress and sewed and knitted entire wardrobes for herself, her children, and her grandchildren.\nAfter raising her four children, she worked many years as a legal secretary. She really took to it and mentioned often that she wished she'd gone to law school.\nRoberta was a caring daughter, wife, and mother. She sacrificed time and again to go wherever she was needed to minister to others in their most difficult times. She loved her church family at Northridge Baptist Church. They were a blessing to her in good times and bad, and she liked to find ways to serve them. Roberta kept making friends of all ages to her last days. In recent years, she enjoyed her new friends at Stonecrest and Valley View Village. \nRoberta leaves behind four children: Rebecca Logan (Terry) of Moundsville, WV; Bruce Mills (Lee) of Santa Rosa, CA; Victoria Arratia (Boris) of Alexandria, VA; and David Mills (Patrice) of Des Moines, IA, a stepson, Carl Swanson Jr. of Portland, OR, also 19 Grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren as well as two very special friends, Carolyn and Holly Barnes, and a "granddaughter of the heart", Carissa and a brother Robert Inhofe Urbandale, IA.\nShe was preceded in death by her dear husband, Carl Swanson, and her sister, Betty Kail.
