Robert Freeman

It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we mourn the passing of Robert Wayne Freeman, fondly known as Bob, who left us suddenly on July 28, 2024.

Born on June 10, 1960, in Des Moines, IA, unto Coleen (Adamson) and Richard Freeman, Bob's life was guided by his profound spiritual nature.

He was a man of the land, sowing seeds of love, hard work, and resilience as a farmer in Carlisle, Iowa. His hands, weathered by the elements and his work, were rarely idle. They crafted birthday cakes, reeled in fish with his cherished wife, Penny, and held his family close in moments of joy and sorrow.

Bob and Penny met during high school, and remained sweethearts for more than 45 years. His unwavering dedication lasted until the very end. He served and supported Penny through her medical issues. Never has there been a better example of, "until death do we part."

He was a Chevy enthusiast, a hunter, a fisherman, and a whiskey connoisseur.

In his youth, he was a member of 4H, enjoyed riding mini-bikes, and picking on his sisters.

Robert leaves behind a lineage that includes his devoted wife, Penny, his loving mother, Coleen, and his sisters, Twyla (Marlon) Druivenga and Teresa (Clifton) Young.

He was a doting grandfather to Tiffany, Kaitlyn, Jonathan, and Wyatt, and a great-grandfather to Rowan. The memory of Robert's loving spirit will continue to guide them.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Beau, his father, Richard, and his best friend, Mike Reynolds.

Donations may be made to his family, who plan to erect a memorial in his honor.

A private family memorial service will be held at 3pm on Thursday August 1, 2024 at the Methodist Hospital Chapel in Des Moines, Iowa. Due to limited space, the family kindly asks that friends and members of the public refrain from attending.

A public funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday August 2, 2024 located at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle, Iowa. Everyone is welcome to attend this event.

Per his wishes, Bob's earthly body will be cremated after the service. His cremated remains will be interred privately at the Sandyville, Iowa Cemetery at a later date.
