Michael Flaig

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Michael Flaig, who left this world on September 16, 2026, surrounded by love at his home. Born on November 3, 1959, in Estherville, Iowa, Michael was a cherished son of Dennis and Mabel Flaig. His journey through life was a testament to compassion, resilience, and the unyielding love he held for his family and friends.

Michael was blessed with a large and loving family. He is survived by his mother, Mabel Flaig; siblings, each of whom held a special place in his heart; Laura (Dave) Armantrout, Tamara Flaig and husband Kenneth Conrad, Theresa Flaig, Scott Flaig, Daniel (Leah) Flaig, and Anthony (Mitzy) Flaig. He was also a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews who brought immense joy to his life. Michael's fiancé, Nikki Richards.

Preceding him in death was his father, Dennis Leo Flaig; grandparents, Herbert and Velma Gerling, and Fred and Mary Flaig, who surely welcomed him with open arms.

Michael’s family and friends will gather to celebrate his life on October 10, 2026, at 3:00 PM. The service will be held at Peterson’s Funeral Home, located at 415 School Street, Carlisle, IA 50047. It will be a time to remember his warmth, his kindness, and the indelible mark he left on everyone he met. A Celebration of Life will be held after the service. Time and place to be determined.

In honor of Michael’s memory, donations may be made to the American Lung Cancer
Screening Initiative, an organization dedicated to saving lives through early detection and prevention. This cause was close to Michael’s heart, and contributions will continue his legacy of caring for others.

Though he is no longer with us, Michael’s spirit will live on in the stories we share, the lives he touched, and the love he gave so freely. We will forever cherish the moments spent with him and celebrate the beautiful life he lived.
