Mattie Van Patten Obituary (2011)

Mattie Van Patten, born July 1, 1908 in Golden, Illinois, to Harm and Grace Ommen Overlander, and passed away March 5, 2011 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Memorial funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, 2011 at Peterson funeral home in Carlisle. Her visitation for family and friends will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday prior to services. Burial will follow on Saturday in Mountain Home, Arkansas . A visitation in Mountain Home will be from 3 to 4 p.m. at Roller funeral home. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Van Patten; sisters Heika Overlander and Christine Murray; and a brother Henry Overlander. Survivers include her sister Marie Hainline; son David Van Patten and wife Waneta; daughter June Elder and husband Charles; her grandchildren Tracy Davenport (Paul), Richard Van Patten (Debbie), Flynn Elder (Dawn), Eric Van Patten(Kim); Michael Van Patten (Melissa); and her six great- grandchildren Jacob, Matthew, Chelsee, Kaitlyn, Hunter and Baylee Van Patten. Mattie and Frank had been long time Van Buren County area residents before retiring and moving to Oakland, Arkansas for over 30 years. She loved fishing and telling of stories of arriving in Iowa and life of early farmers.
