MARGY A. HERING\nAnkeny, Iowa\n\nMargy A. Hering, 89, of Ankeny, Iowa died April 4, 2015, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A private burial service will be held at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. Following the burial, a Memorial Service for Margy will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at the Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle Iowa. The family will be present from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. to greet friends, with the Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. \n\nMargy was born November 8, 1925, on a farm near Malvern in Mills County, Iowa, to Viola and Ivan Jackson. Margy married Jack D. Hering in 1946 and moved to Iowa City where Jack attended the University of Iowa after his return from Army service in Europe during WWII. After graduation, they moved to Des Moines, where Jack worked at American Republic Insurance Company for more than 40 years. They spent their married life in Polk County, where they raised their two daughters, Diane and Barbara. In addition to being a full-time homemaker, Margy was a member of many church and community organizations. These included the West Des Moines Christian Church and the Raymond Blank Children's Hospital Guild, where she began volunteering in 1962, eventually accumulating over 3,000 hours of service.\n\nMargy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 54 years, Jack D. Hering; her older sister Shirley J. Jackson; and her grandson, David Burget. She is survived by her daughters, Diane K. Burget (Tim), and Barbara A. Hering (Lance Coppock); her granddaughter Jennifer Burget Anderson (Brant), and their daughters Davan and Libby, and a third great-granddaughter due in June.\n\nMemorial contributions may be directed to the Raymond Blank Children's Hospital Guild or the Ronald McDonald House in Margy's memory.
