Lynneth Hommer

Lynneth (Lettington) Hommer was born on September 18, 1935, in Indianola, Iowa unto Loren and Velma (Hites) Lettington.

She passed away of natural causes on September 4, 2024 at the Westview Acers Care Center in Leon, Iowa.

Lynn grew up in Indianola with six siblings. She quit school in the eighth grade in order to stay home with her parents. She met the love of her life, Glendal Duane Hommer, and they were married on June 30, 1956. To this union five children were born.

She worked off and on, but mainly was a stay at home wife and mother. She enjoyed sewing and playing the card game "Pitch." Mostly she loved taking care of her husband and her children, and being with her family and friends.

Lynneth is survived by her children: Cathy Lynn Shackelford, Twyla Mae (Ron) VanEssen, Rodney Duane Hommer, Dienda Marie Hommer, and Cindy Hommer; Grandchildren: Cinda Hommer, Bobbie Jo (Jason) Angusich, Scott (Anya Frizell) Hommer, Jonathan (Amanda) Jackson, Jennifer (Glenn) Feezell, Tori (Jesse) Heilman, Reva Hommer, Justin (Haylie Poling) Hommer, Amanda (Josh) Berg, Dana (Rick) Boner.

She was also blessed with 17 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Lynneth was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Glendal, her son Tim, all of her siblings, her granddaughter Jessica Jackson, her great granddaughter Kayla Boner, and many in-laws.

According to her wishes, Lynneth's body will be cremated. A graveside memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery, Indianola, Iowa (1200 South Jefferson Way).
