Austin Lee Ruppert, 20, was born February 22, 1994 in Smithfield, North Carolina to Doug and Cheri Ruppert. Austin passed away Thursday, April 24,2014 near Carlisle, IA in an automobile accident. In high school, Austin was a dedicated football player and track star making it to State in 2011 and 2012. He made going to the gym and keeping physically fit a priority, even though he loved and treasured his mom's baked goods. He was a patron of the Aspen Athletic Club in Des Moines. He enjoyed camping, boating and sitting by the camp fire. Along with being active and helping others, Austin's passion was children. He worked at School Street Scholars Daycare Center in Carlisle and loved caring for and playing with the children. They adored him. He also worked for UPS in Des Moines as a pre-loader and was a very valued team member. He looked forward to pursuing a career with the company where he was always punctual, worked hard and was an asset to the team. They all loved having him there. He loved his family pets, Gizmo and Junior, as well as music, movies and trivia. He prided himself in knowing which actors played in nearly every movie and could recite lines from them. He loved to talk in silly voices and make people laugh. Austin was a member of the St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Carlisle. He had strong family values and loved his family more than anything. He is survived by his parents Doug and Cheri Ruppert, brothers Shane Ruppert and wife Nikki and Ryan Ruppert, grandparents: Sharon Peter of Norfolk, NE and Bernard and Patricia Ruppert of Madison, NE as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandfather Bill Legate, uncle Mitch Legate and two cousins Sarah and Wade Veskrna. \nVisitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, April 29 at St. Elizabeth's Seton Catholic Church, 2566 Scotch Ridge Rd. Carlisle, IA. Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at St. Elizabeth's Seton Catholic Church, with burial at Carlisle City Cemetery. \nPallbearers are uncles Paul Brakhage, Jim Livingston, Bernie Ruppert, Jeff Veskrna and friends Justin Dillon, Dallas Loney, Jeff Podliska, Nathan Stickley. Honorary Pallbearers are cousins Sarah Veskrna, Wade Veskrna, Hannah Veskrna, Jessica Bove, Courtney Livingston, Amanda Wilmot, Michael Wilmot, Willow Wilmot, Cal Lucas, Harlie Ruppert, Destiny Ruppert, Tanya Legate, Breanna Ashton and friends Ryan Rice, John Rawson and the Class of 2013 as well as other family friends.\nMemorials can be made to his parents for later designation.
