Lee Roy McKeever

Lee Roy McKeever, 60, of Des Moines, passed away December 4, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Lee was born March 11, 1958 in Carlisle, Iowa to Gilford and Audrey McKeever. A visitation with family present will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle from 10:00am-12:00pm. There will be a private family service.

In life, Lee was a good man, loving father, husband of 32 years, first-time grandpa and servant to the Lord Jesus Christ. He let his faith lead him and be used as a guide for his family as well. Lee grew up in the small town of Carlisle, was 1 of 9 kids, a graduate in the Class of '76 at Carlisle High School, and he was a big fan of classic cars. He had several accomplishments over his lifetime, but his greatest accomplishment was his family.

Amelia was his soulmate. They met in 1983 when they worked together and connected over an old car he was fixing up for a friend. A friendship blossomed then developed into a wonderful marriage. Lee and Amelia were married on May 17, 1986. True love stands the test of time, in life....and in death.

Lee loved spending time with his kids, Zachary, Hannah, and Elijah. He was happiest playing games, helping with homework, or just being there to listen or give advice. He was a blessing not only to his family, but to many others as well. If someone needed help, like fixing their vehicle, he was right there to lend a helping hand. He could talk about cars for hours and was very knowledgeable in many subjects. This year, he was so excited to become a grandfather to his little "sweetie pie," Eva. She was the apple of his eye and she loves him too.

Lee is survived by his wife, Amelia, children; Zachary McKeever (Emily) of Rochester Minnesota, Hannah Altimus (Cody) of West Des Moines, IA, Elijah McKeever of Des Moines, IA, and newborn granddaughter Eva. He is also survived by his siblings; Charles (Sondra) McKeever, Maxine Crain, Jim (Karen) McKeever, Joanne Anderson, Larry (Jeannie) McKeever, Jerry McKeever and Diane (John) Maughan.

Lee was proceeded in death by: his father Gilford McKeever, mother Audrey (Daniels) McKeever, sister Linda Bird and uncle Ralph McKeever.
