Lawrence Veasman

A public celebration of life will be held for Lawrence "Larry" Veasman on Sunday February 23, 2025 from 1pm - 4pm at Peterson Funeral Home in Indianola, Iowa (602 East Salem Avenue), at which time family will be available to receive relatives, and friends.

Larry passed away on February 10, 2025 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa. He was 78 years old.

He was born in Jefferson, Iowa. Larry was one of nineteen children of Paul and Lura Veasman. In his early years, Larry attended Hoosier Row and St. Marys schools. Later he attended and graduated from Indianola High School, class of 1964. Over the past ten years he looked forward to monthly luncheon meetings with his '64 classmates. He enjoyed seeing everyone and telling a few jokes to keep them laughing. Larry made a point of finding the good in others and making sure he complimented everyone he spoke with.

Larry was a retiree of John Deere, a career he held for thirty-two years.

He was involved in local politics, serving as mayor of Ackworth, Iowa for twelve years and was a city council member for Indianola, Iowa. He also enjoyed slow pitch softball, Little League baseball, playing pool, and helping with Boy Scout Troops. At Christmas time you would find Larry dressed in his Santa suit volunteering during city holiday events.

Larry is survived by his daughter Barb (Jay) Holland of Indianola, Iowa; his son Brian (Dana) Veasman of Dickson, Tennessee; his grandchildren: Libby (Joe) Gardner, Laney (Matt) Guintard, Lexxy (Joe) Rhodes, Lilly (Logan) Barker, Jenna Veasman, Noah Veasman, and Ian Veasman; his great grandchildren: Greyson Rhodes, Jensen Gardner, Charlotte Rhodes, and Twyla Gardner; and his siblings: Donna (Ralph) Reick, Maxine Edwards, Patricia Galbert, and Mike (Connie) Veasman.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Lura Veasman, and fourteen siblings.
