Rev. Kirk Duane Stump, 63, of Des Moines, IA passed away peacefully on November 14 2021, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Kirk grew up in Carlisle, IA and graduated from Carlisle High School. Kirk married his high school sweetheart Jeanne Fetters. Kirk and Jeanne welcomed four beautiful children into their family. Kirk went to college at Simpson College in Indianola, IA and Westmar College in Le Mars, IA. Kirk graduated with a degree in Education and Theatre Arts. Kirk taught high school literature and english at Buffalo Center, IA. Kirk was the theatre director and debate coach while at Buffalo Center. Kirk then attended Dubuque Theological Seminary while serving as a student pastor in Apple River, IL. After graduating with a Masters of Divinity, Kirk was ordained as a United Methodist Minister. Kirk served as pastor at Iowa United Methodist churches in Atlantic, Anamosa, and Humboldt/ Gilmore City/ Bradgate. Kirk will be dearly missed and always remembered. Kirk was preceded in death by his father, Bobby H Stump, mother, Patricia Ann (VerPloegh), brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sanda Stump, brother-in-law, Ricky LaValley and his son Gabriel Peter Stump. He is survived by his wife Jeanne, his sons, Jediah (Stacey) and Jacob, his daughter Kelsey, his sister Vicki (Ted) Oswald, sisters-in-law, Susan (David) Mengwasser, Joni Fetters, Sherry LaValley, Donna (Bruce) McLaren, Lisa Ball and his grand-daughter Jada. A host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also mourn the loss of Kirk. Honoring Kirk's wishes, no services will take place.
