It is with a sense of joy and celebration of a life well-lived that we remember Kirby Ray Bullington, born on May 23, 1958, in Des Moines, Iowa, who was called home on February 21, 2026. Kirby was a dedicated and generous soul, a beacon of positivity and light to all who knew him. His remarkable journey began in Des Moines, traversed through Runnells and Johnston, and finally found a home in Carlisle, Iowa.
Despite his thoughtful and smart nature, Kirby was a man of humble beginnings. He spent most of his career at Waste Management in Des Moines, a job he took to heart, and demonstrated in dedication. Kirby was a man of deep faith, a firm member of the Runnells Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Kirby was a beloved father to Megan (Kim) Smith, and Kayla Bullington. He is also survived by his sister, Sherry (Gary) Johnson, and his brothers, Kevin and Jerry (Deb) Bullington. Grandpa to nine grandchildren and uncle to seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lola and James (Ellie) Bullington. His generous and thoughtful spirit will be remembered by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
