John D. Schlotterback

John D. Schlotterback, 83, of Indianola, passed away at Westview Care Center on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. A memorial visitation for John will be held from 1-3:00 PM Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Peterson Funeral Home in Indianola. Interment of John's ashes will follow services in the Sandyville Cemetery.
John was born on June 15, 1935 in Knoxville, Iowa to William and Marguerite (Isenberg) Schlotterback. John graduated from Knoxville High School and worked most of his life as a printer, including 30 years at the Des Moines Register.
John had many hobbies that he loved. He enjoyed motorcycles, metal detectors, and citizen band radios. He loved word working as well as leather carving. He was an avid reader and loved photography. He enjoyed Des Moines Buccaneer hockey games with his grandson. John was looking forward to greeting his great-granddaughter Jemma Mae, to be born later this month.
John is survived by his wife, Holly Phillips Schlotterback of Indianola; and daughters Leslie (Stephen) Marshman, and Lori (Steven) Merrill. He is also survived by a granddaughter Jennifer (Mike) Hayes, and grandsons Josh Marshman (Samantha Ross) and Jerimy (Melissa) Jenkins; great-grandson Max Marshman, and great-granddaughters Mackenzie, Madalyn, and Mailey Hayes, and a brother Jim Schlotterback.
