John L. Putney

John Lorenzo Putney was born August 29, 1912, in Adair County, Iowa, to Charlie and Lula Johnson Putney and passed this life January 3rd, 2010 at Greenfield Manor.
John attended country schools around Stuart and Menlo and then attended high school in Greenfield, Iowa. He graduated with the class of 1929. John farmed around Stuart and Menlo until the late 60's when he married Josephine Fry and moved to Norwalk, Iowa John worked at Cadco in Des Moines until his retirement in 1977. After retirement, the Putneys spent their winters in Apache Junction, Arizona, as long as their health would allow.
John loved children and was Grandpa John to 13 grandchildren and a large brood of great-grandchildren. He was a quiet man who never complained. John accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and was baptized in September of 1940. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sister Sarah, and wives Vera and Josephine. John will be missed by his step-children. Beverly Roe, James Boyd, Larry, Fry, and Lowell Fry, his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday, January 7th, at 11:00 a.m. at Peterson Funeral Home in Indianola, Iowa. The family will be present at 10:00 a.m. Condolences may be made at www.petersonfunerals.com
