John Egenberger

It is with great sadness that after a 6 month battle with cancer, on Saturday, August 22, 2020, John Fredrick Egenberger, passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side. Funeral services for John will be held at 10:30 am Monday, August 31, 2020 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. A visitation will begin at 9:00 am prior to services at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow services in Lowman Cemetery in Runnells. A luncheon at Eagles Lodge 109 in Des Moines will take place at later date due to Covid-19 restrictions.

John was born on December 30, 1951 in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert and Mildred (Darnell) Egenberger. After he graduated with straight A's from East High School he went into the Navy. Following an honorable discharge from the Navy after serving in the Vietnam War, John went into the asphalt/paving business. John retired from Henningsen Construction after over 25 years, and continued to work part time after retirement.

John was a man of many passions. He loved cooking, NASCAR, driving stock cars, vacations with his wife Dorothy, bingo with his family, tinkering in the garage and especially spending time with great-grandkids giving scooter rides.

John will be lovingly remembered by his wife Dorothy; children, Greg (Noch) Egenberger, Christopher Egenberger, Robbie (Amber) Egenberger, Tammy (John) Morrow and Bobbie Jo (Rich) Bolek; siblings, Marcia Stamper, Carol Meircer, Robert Jr (Marlene Bruch) Egenberger, Sue Ellen Meyers; grandchildren, Arron, Layne, Taylor, Paige (Ryan) Grochala, Brooke (Garrett) Guilkey, Payton Bolek, Camryn Bolek, Lindsey (Chad) DeVolder, Natalie (Shannon) Weiss; great grandchildren, Brilee, Brayden, Braxton, Brayson, Briggs, Scout, Reeves, Shannon Jr, Aurora, and Baby Stella on the way.

John was preceded in death by his parents Robert Sr and Mildred; brothers, Thomas and Billie as well as many other family members.
