Jeffrey Jay Johnson

Jeffrey Jay Johnson passed away at his home on Sunday, January 30, 2022. He was 63 years old. Jeff was born on January 1, 1959, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the son of John (Jack) and Joan Johnson. In 1975 they moved to Carlisle, Iowa. Jeff graduated from Carlisle High School in 1978. He worked at Goff-N-Nash auto parts store for ten years. On September 19, 1981, he was united in marriage to Jane Johnson.

Jeff graduated from Lincoln Tech in Des Moines. He also worked for Johnston Distributing for several years. In 1992 he was hired on with the Des Moines Fire Department as a maintenance mechanic. He also worked for the Carlisle Fire Department for many years, and he was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters union. He was currently still working for the Des Moines Fire Department at the time of his passing.

He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, was fond of HO trains, working on vehicles, bowling, motorcycling, buying tools, and playing around on his Ford tractor.

Jeff is survived by his wife Jane; their 4 children: John Johnson, Amanda Johnson, Kayla (Josef) Miller, and Jerad Johnson; his sisters Cindy Nehring and Wendy Johnson; and his brother Mark (Mia) Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Joan Johnson.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, August 13, 2022 at the Carlisle City Cemetery . In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to the family.
