Jasper L Champlin\n\nIndianola\n\nJasper L Champlin, age 95, passed away February 14, 2011 at the Westview Care Center in Indianola.\n\nA life long Indianola resident Jasper worked for the Rock Island Railroad since 1942, retiring in 1980. He was the last group of steam locomotive engineers. He had been a member of the Indianola Friends Church all his life. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers. His visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday prior to services at 11 a.m. at Peterson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Luncheon will follow back at the funeral home after burial.\n\nPreceding in death were his parents Eugene and Leona Champlin, wife Edna in 2009, Brother Ed, sister Marjorie Hoot and grandson Brent Alan Champlin. Jasper is survived by two sons, Larry (Alice) Champlin and Freddie Champlin both of Indianola; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
