James Emerson Clendenen, 70, of Swan, passed away May 28, 2021 in Des Moines, Iowa. A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 10:00am at Peterson Funeral Home in Indianola. A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 5:00-7:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will take place at I.O.O.F Cemetery.\r\nJim was born April 13, 1951 in Des Moines to Howard and Audrey (Fetters) Clendenen. He was most proud of his family, wife Karla, children and grandchildren. He was Karla's strength and sweetheart. Jim was a generous, hardworking man with a great sense of humor. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends and kept things simple and focused. He was an avid outdoorsman and had a special place in his heart for his dogs. Jim had many talents and unique hobbies and was always up for a new challenge. He was a skilled carpenter, who had an eye for detail and delivered high quality work. He worked many years as a Union Carpenter, before opening his own company, Capitol City Construction in 1990. Jim has left his family and friends with many stories to share and countless special memories. \r\nJim is survived by his wife Karla, daughter Christy (Bruce) Kennedy, Des Moines, son Pete (Jodi) Clendenen, Milo, stepsons Tad Cahow, Texas, and Kevin Cahow, New York. Grandchildren Thomas and Hanna Kennedy, and Taylor, Austin and Lexi Clendenen, sister Mary (JR) Boyd, Moulton, and brother Paul Clendenen, Des Moines. \r\nJim was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Tom Clendenen. \r\nMemorials can be made in Jim's name to: The Animal Rescue League or Kiya Koda Humane Society.
