Hazel F. Carrel, age 98, died Friday, October 14, 2011 at the Indianola Good Samaritan Society. Born in Canada, she was a long time Des Moines resident living with her daughter, Beverly.

Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. Burial will be in the Carlisle City Cemetery.

Preceding in death were her husband, Francis in 2001; daughter-in-law, Janet Carrel and great- granddaughter, Addison Carrel. Surviving are her children, Dean Carrel of Carlisle and Beverly Carrel of Des Moines; sister, Evelyn Richards of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Dan (Melinda) Carrel, Diana Carrel, Duane (Amanda) Carrel and Dorena (Cory) Carrel-Carter and great grandchildren, Abbigale, Jonathan, Taylor, LaraRea Roberts, Kerra Roberts and Maddie Roberts.
