Harriet Irene Swedenburg (Irene), 83, of Indianola, Iowa passed away on February 19th, 2018.\nThe funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. February 24, 2018 at Assembly of God Church, Indianola Iowa. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Assembly of God Church .\nIrene was born in Corydon, Iowa on May 19, 1934. She was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Faye Hull. Irene graduated from Indianola High School and continued her education at Stephens College, Columbia, MO. \nShe had many jobs throughout her life but most rewarding was working at Assembly of God Church. Irene had a heart full of love, a kind and generous soul. She was always happy and full of life. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for others, from family, friends or complete strangers. She enjoyed church and serving the Lord. She loved to do anything outdoors, working in the yard, going for hikes and never passed an opportunity to go to an amusement park especially roller coasters. \nIrene is survived by her sister Elaine Smith (Bob) and son, Jeffrey Morton (Krista), Janna Martin (Chris), Dana Morton (Henry), Step-children Jeff Swedenburg, Lori Connelly (Brett), Charisse Ozella (Charlie),and 13 grandchildren, Luis, Antoine, Jeffrey, Amber, Brandon, Sarah, Paige, Bryan, Tyler, Mark, Mikeala, Michelle and Brittany and great grandchildren, Yvanna, Ayana, Jose Luis, Giovanna Alani, Milah, Alex, Tripp, Michael, Isabella and Jude. \nIrene is preceded in death by first husband Jerry Morton and second husband Ron Swedenburg, \nIn lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Peterson Funeral Home, 600 E. Salem Ave. Indianola, Iowa to be donated for Alzheimer research.
