Harold Dean Thoman of Carlisle passed away peacefully at Taylor House Hospice on March 12, 2021. A visitation for Harold will be held Tuesday, March 16, from 5:00-7:30pm at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. Interment with military honors provided by the United States Air Force will take place Wednesday, March 17 at 11:00 at Iowa Veteran's Cemetery in Adel. \r\nHarold was born August 4, 1952 in Keokuk, Iowa to Paul and Jane (DeLong) Thoman. He worked for the State of Iowa and Prairie Meadows for 25years. He truly enjoyed his time at Prairie Meadows. Harold was a kind man who loved to help wherever he could. He was a proud "big brother", for the Big Brothers of Iowa. He had a fondness for eagles, which was evident to anyone who visited his home. He was also a dog lover; he leaves behind his dog Bailey, who is lost without him. Harold enjoyed spending time with children, grandchildren, and his wife of 49 years, Betty. \r\nHarold is survived by his wife, Betty, children; Paul (Linette) Thoman, and James Thoman, four grandchildren, and two great- grandchildren.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Rex.\r\nMemorials may be directed to the family.
