Glenn Harold Alcorn

Glenn Harold Alcorn, 84, of Des Moines Iowa, went home to meet his heavenly Father with family by his side on Wednesday, August 1, 2018. Glenn was born on April 14, 1934, in Greenfield Iowa, the son of John D., and Josephine (Low) Alcorn. In 1952 he married his bride of 66 years, Velma Hartman. He is survived by four children; Brenda (James) Harrell of Des Moines, John Alcorn of Lovilla, Mervin (Cindy) Alcorn of Carlisle, and Loretta (Daniel) Collins of Indianola. Glenn is also survived by his sisters; Shirley Wade and MaryLou Hern both of Indianola, as well as nine grandchildren, nineteen great- grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Glenn was preceded in death by his siblings; Lela Kembery, Eunice Green, Eugene Alcorn, and John Jr. Alcorn.
Glenn spent most of his career driving a maintainer for Warren County Iowa. He cherished his children and extended family. He enjoyed his rose garden, wood working, and was a great story teller.
A visitation will be held from 10-11 am Monday, August 6, 2018 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle Iowa. There will be a graveside service at the Carlisle City Cemetery immediately following the visitation. Online condolences can be made at www.petersonfuneralservice.com
