German Cruz Cruz "Jr" 80, died December 10, 2020 at Parkridge Specialty Care in Pleasant Hill, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 11:00am at Peterson Funeral Home in Indianola. Military honors performed by the U.S. Army will take place after the service at the funeral home. \r\nGerman was born January 26, 1940 in Puerto Rico to Pauluta Cruz Fuentes and German Cruz Cruz. He was married and divorced in Puerto Rico and had a daughter Waleska. Years later, German moved to Des Moines, Iowa where he met and married Joyce Cruz on May 12, 2001. She had three children of her own. Along the way, German added eight grandchildren and two great- grandchildren to his family.\r\nGerman Cruz, also known as "Jr" was a dedicated hard worker who loved to joke around with everyone. Jr loved to sit on his front porch and watch people walking and driving by his home. Anyone who walked by his home always knew him cause he was a friendly person. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing down at the river or lake. He loved dancing, playing dominos, eating Puerto Rican food, and meeting new people. He always talked about his daughter Waleska, granddaughter Sathya, and great- granddaughter Ohana along with all the good memories he has of them. Jr was a down to earth person who would always make you smile over some of the things he'd say. He was so proud, always talking about his family. Jr loved watching western movies and eating his cookies. He loved parking cars during the State Fair every year. He was someone everyone enjoyed being around and will be hard to forget. \r\n\t\r\nGerman is survived by his wife of 19 years, Joyce Cruz, Daughters Waleska Cruz Lopez (Ahmed Donatiu Figueroa)of Puerto Rico, Michelle (Lynn) Chaplin of Indianola, IA, Bobbi Pollard (Mike Vogt) of Des Moines, IA, Son, Michael (Holly) Pollard Jr, eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, three nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents Pauluta Cruz Fuentes and German Cruz Cruz, and his sister Zenaida Antonia Cruz.
