Gabe Stump passed away at the age of 28 in his home in Carlisle, Iowa on April 17, 2021. Gabe lost his brave and long battle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, but not without leaving his mark on this world. He was well known as the cheerful kid in the wheelchair tooling around town, checking out classic car and outdoor shows, throwing the first ball or puck at sporting events, and hanging out with friends at camps Sunnyside and Courageous. Gabe would collect just about anything. Among Gabe's prized trophies were his mounted buck head, doe hooves, and turkey fan that he bagged during deer and turkey hunts with SYC of NW Iowa. Gabe was an artist and many benefited from the pictures he would draw or paint and give others.\r\n\r\nGabriel Peter Stump was born January 9, 1993. Gabe was adopted into the Stump family at age 2 1/2 months.\r\n\r\nGabe is survived by his mother Jeanne Fetters Stump, Carlisle; father Kirk Stump, Des Moines. Brothers Jediah (Stacey) Stump, Bertha, MN and Jacob Stump, Indianola, sister Kelsey Stump, Indianola and niece Jada Stump, Bertha, MN. Aunts Susan (David) Mengwasser, Joni Fetters, Sherry LaValley, Donna (Bruce) McLaren, Lisa Ball, and Vicki (Ted) Oswald. He also leaves many great cousins and other dear friends around the state of Iowa and the world.\r\n\r\nGabe is preceded by his grandparents Darrell & Ruth Fetters, Bobby & Patricia Stump, Uncle Ricky LaValley, Uncle Robert & Sandi Stump. Cousins Alexandria McLaren & Creighton Fetters.\r\n\r\nA memorial celebration will be held at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 6:00pm. A visitation will be held from 4:00- 6:00pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts will be split among Gabe's favorite places; Camp Sunnyside, Camp Courageous, etc.
