Freddrick Rollie Reed passed away on October, 12, 2021 in State Center, Iowa. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:15am on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Avon Cemetery. A visitation will take place at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle at 10:00 am prior to the graveside service. \r\n\r\nFred was born in Pershing, Iowa on January 27, 1934 to Frank and Martha (McGrew) Reed. His family moved to Bussey, Iowa where Fred graduated Bussey High School in 1953. Fred joined the United States Marine Corps in 1954 and was stationed in Japan and Hawaii. He returned home in 1956 and moved to Des Moines, Iowa in the late 50's. Fred and Dorothy Anne Fisher were married on April 5, 1958. They settled on Des Moines' south side where they raised their three children. Fred Joined Carpenters Local 106 in Des Moines where he worked as a journeyman carpenter for CECO Steel as a construction foreman, as well as other large firms across Iowa. His work took him as far as State College, Pennsylvania. Fred later worked at Adventureland as a carpenter, even building the famous Tornado roller coaster. In the early 80's Fred started his own business, Fred Reed and Sons Construction. He ran the business until Dorothy's health forced a move to Arizona until Dorothy's death on November 17, 1994. Fred loved his family and enjoyed hunting and playing pool. \r\n\r\nFred is survived by his children; Kenneth (Denise) Reed Sr., Greg (Lorri) Reed, Geleen (Brett) Reed-Toresdahl, grandchildren; Kenneth (Julie) Reed Jr.,Kristopher (Brennan) Reed, Blakely Reed, Rachael (Sam) White, Hunter Reed, Ian Reed, Maryanne (Todd) Stone, Ashely Reed, Haley Toresdahl, and Hannah Toresdahl, great-grandchildren; Conour Smith, Damon Reed, Collin Stone, and Paul White.\r\n\r\nFred was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Dorothy Anne (Fisher) Reed, and his siblings; Dessie Reed, Alberta Jones, Raymond Reed, Leland Reed, Genevieve Pyle, Lucille Dreibelbis, Robert Reed, Thomas Reed, and Donald Reed.\r\n\r\nMemorials in Fred's name can be made to American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
