Hartford, Iowa
Emory S. Murray, born on August 19, 1955, in the charming city of Salzburg, Austria, departed us on March 31, 2025. Known for his adventurous spirit, Emory was a man of many passions. His loving nature and infectious sense of humor brought joy to those around him. Reliable as the sunrise, he was the rock upon which his family could always lean.
In 1975, Emory married the love of his life, Barbara, and together they built a home filled with laughter and love in Hartford, Iowa. Emory was a dedicated worker and spent his career at Amcor Plastics in Ames, Iowa, keeping the plant running smoothly. Retirement in 2021 didn't slow him down; it simply gave him more time for his hobbies. Emory was an avid car enthusiast who loved nothing more than working on cars and racing with his sons and grandsons. His adventurous spirit also saw him cruising the open roads on his motorcycle, his laughter echoing in the wind.
Emory's life was a testament to his devotion to his family. He was a loving father to his sons Jason, Joshua, and Jacob, and a doting grandfather to Brant, Gavin, Landon, and Bryson. He is survived by his mother, Loredana Murray, his sisters Pat Hutchinson and Paula Murray, and his mother-in-law, Bonnie Chandler. He was predeceased by his father, Paul Murray, his brother-in-law, Roger Daniels, his sister-in-law, Debbie Munley, and his brother-in-law, Leroy Hutchinson.
Emory's memory will live on in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love he gave so freely. We encourage all who knew Emory to share their memories and upload photos to his memorial page. Each story, each photo, is a celebration of a life well-lived. Emory's legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those he touched, a testament to a truly remarkable man.
