Emily Katherine Carter, 93, of Keller, Texas formally of Des Moines, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at home, with all the love and support of being with her family.\r\nEmily was born on March 10, 1927 to Emanuel and Katherine Simoes in Honolulu, Hawaii and was later joined by 2 siblings, Charles and Roseline.\r\nIn 1948, she met Clifton Carter and the two were inseparable from that point on. Cliff and Emily were married for over 63 years and had 3 children, Sue, Les and Dorie.\r\nEmily was preceded in death by the love of her life Clifton; parents, Emanuel and Katherine, brother, Charles, granddaughter, Amanda McNeeley, and son in law, Garrett McNeeley. She is survived by her children, Sue McNeeley of Des Moines, Les Carter of Terrell, Texas and Dorie (Jim) Mulford of Keller, Texas; sister, Roseline Whitlock of Waianae, Hawaii; grandchildren, Anna McNeeley, Kyle (Maggie) Brown, Lanny (Beth) Carter, Richard (Amanda) Mulford, Sarah (Alex) Gribbins, and 10 great grandchildren.\r\nFuneral Services will be held, Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Peterson Funeral Home, 415 School Street, Carlisle, Iowa. Graveside services will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Des Moines. Due to COVID-19 the family would appreciate just immediate family attend the funeral service with face masks. All family and guests are welcome to attend the graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens following the funeral.
