Ellis "Hap" DeVere Thomas, age 86 of Murray, NE passed away on Friday, October 23, 2020 at his residence. \r\n He was born on January 1, 1934 to Charles Albert and Katherine Emma (Gilbert) Thomas at Rolla, MO. Hap was raised and schooled in Rolla, MO. He married Barbara Bishop in 1950 and to this union three children were born. Hap lived and worked construction in Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska. Hap met June Wagner and they owned and operated the Red Lantern Bar in Oreapolis, NE. Later Hap and June made their home in Murray. \r\n Hap was a member of Plattsmouth Masonic Lodge #6 A.F. and A.M., Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #365 both of Plattsmouth, and the Tangier Shrine of Omaha. \r\n He is survived by his forever friend: June Wagner of Murray, NE; son: Tim Thomas and wife Michelle of Las Cruces, NM; two daughters: Sherrie Wallace and husband Charlie of Pleasant Hill, IA; Kathy Middour of Organ, NM; six grandchildren: David Rivas and wife Carla; Brandi Oxler and husband Kenny; Patrick Middour, Brandon Thomas and wife Kristen, Miranda Thomas, Jerry Rykiel and wife Lindsey; ten great grandchildren: Bennett, Henry, and Violet Rivas, Jacob and Sydney Oxler, Esperanza Escalante, Madison Middour, DeAnna Franco, Aria Ortega, Wyatt Rykiel, and Weston Rykiel; brother: Clyde Thomas and wife Sandra of Des Moines, IA; special cousin: Ann Bramel, special friend: Karen Zulauf; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. \r\n Hap is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, parents: Charles and Katherine Thomas, his sister: Emma Jo Thomas, former wife: Barbara Thomas, grandson: Robert Charles Middour, niece: Cindy Blades, and his nephew: Richard Charles Thomas. \r\n Visitations will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., on Monday, October 26, 2020 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. \r\n A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle, IA. \r\n The Pallbearers will be David Rivas, Charlie Wallace, Jeff Bramal, Charles Richard Finch, Espi Escalante, and Alan Soroka. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Rykiel, Brandon Thomas, Miranda Thomas, Patrick Middour, Madison Middour, De Anna Franco, Bennett Rivas, Henry Rivas, Violet Rivas, Wyatt Rykiel, Weston Rykiel, Aria Ortega, Brandi Oxler, Jacob Oxler, and Sydney Oxler. \r\n Hap's Final Resting Place will be at Avon Cemetery near Carlisle, IA. \r\n Memorials to the Family (A suitable charity will be chosen at a later date).
