Elaine Smith (Hull), 90, of Indianola, Iowa passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 20, 2018 at the Jewish Life Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Elaine was born in Hedrick, Iowa on November 8, 1927 to Benjamin Franklin and Faye Hull. Services for Elaine will be held Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 1:00pm at Peterson Funeral Home in Indianola. A visitation will take place at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at I.O.O.F Cemetery in Indianola. \nElaine graduated from Indianola High School in 1945 and continued her education at Drake and Iowa State University, graduating in 1949. It was at Iowa State where she met her beloved husband of 68 years, Robert C. Smith. They were wed on June 18, 1950. Elaine and Robert later moved to Los Angeles where they had two children, Bill and Susan. They later returned to Indianola in 1985. \nElaine was a proud and ideal mother and wife. She could always accomplish anything she set her mind to; from designing clothing, hats, and recipes, to becoming a docent at the Gamble House Elaine cherished her family and friends. She endlessly gave to them which she enjoyed. Elaine had an adventurous spirit and she loved to travel with her friends. In her later years she became quite the button collector. \nElaine is survived by her husband Robert Smith; son, William Smith; daughter, Susan (Jack) Fletcher; and two grandchildren, Sergio and Alex.
