Edgar S Patterson, 85, of Carlisle, Iowa passed away July 12th, 2014, with family by his side. He was born to Gladys and Herbert Patterson in Carlisle June 30th, 1929. He married the late Marilyn Maxine Campbell on April 27th, 1952 and lived on the farmstead in Palmyra township. Ed and Marilyn had five children: H. Scott Patterson, William L. Patterson, Joel D. Patterson (deceased), Kimela S. Marble, and Jeffrey G. Patterson, 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren with one on the way. Edgar will be missed greatly by his family and friends of the community.\n\nHe was a graduate of Hartford High School in 1947 and joined the Marines during the Korean war. Marilyn and Edgar lived near Camp Pendleton, CA during that time and then returned to the family farm, where they lived the rest of their lives.\n\nEdgar and Marilyn served God through their dedication to the Church and were strong volunteers in their work through ministries with children and young adults. Edgar was a avid sports fan and attended many Carlisle Girl's Softball games and other high school sports.\n\nVisitation will be 5 to 7pm, Friday June 18th, 2014 at Peterson's Funeral home in Carlisle. The Funeral will be held 10:30am Saturday June 19th, 2014 at The Community United Presbyterian Church in Hartford, Iowa. The burial will be at Hartford Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the church.\n\nDonations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Hartford Community United Presbyterian Church.
