Helen Horton Indianola, Iowa Helen Elaine Brammer, born April 1, 1920 in Grand River, IA, peacefully passed from this life on August 22, 2013 at her home in Indianola, Iowa. She was retired from Iowa Power & Light, was an active member of Indianola Regular Baptist Church, as well as a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her first and only love of her life, Harold Thomas Horton. They were united in marriage on August 8, 1938. Helen is survived by her three children, Sharon Kerns (late Larry Kerns) of Spokane, WA, Jerry Horton (Anita) of The Villages, FL, and Katy Durham (Rick Meehan) of Ocean City, MD. She leaves behind 12 grandchildren, Thomas Kerns (Jackie) of Sacramento, CA, Joseph Kerns of Spokane, WA, Cherie Morris of Mangum, OK, Daniel Kerns of Spokane, WA, Paul Horton (Nancy), Tim Horton (Lisa) both of Indianola, IA, Jennifer Shultice (Kirk) of Altoona, IA , Dave Horton (Joni) of Milo, IA, Kelly Sobol-Kuykendall (Greg) of Oak Hill, VA, Nick Durham (Jody) of Wake Forest, NC, Amy Durham of Oak Hill, VA and Brandy Durham of Ocean City, MD, 21 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Helen was the daughter of the late Albert and Blanche Brammer of Murray, IA. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, and 1 sister, Margaret Wilkinson of Indianola, IA. She is survived by her two sisters, Alberta Wilcox of Osceola, IA and Naomi Johnson of Truro, IA. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and special friends. The celebration of her life will be held on Friday, September 27th at the Indianola Regular Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Visitation for Helen will be held an hour prior to services at the church. A reception will be held at the church following the burial at I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Indianola, IA.
