Doris Jean Fagen

Doris Jean Fagen, 91, of Carlisle, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at her home. Funeral services for Doris will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. A visitation will be held at 10:00am prior to the service. Interment will take place at Carlisle Cemetery.
Doris was born in Des Moines, Iowa on August 25, 1930 to Kenneth (Ted) and Leone Hunt. After living in Des Moines, the family moved to Perry, Iowa in 1942 where she spent her childhood. She graduated from Perry High School in 1948. Doris attended college for a brief time and worked at First National Bank of Perry as well as Perry High School Superintendent's office. Doris married Jesse E. Fagen on October 23, 1955, and they made their home in Carlisle where they remained in business for 35 years. First, Standard Oil, as independent oil jobbers, and then as co-owners of Fagen Oil until Jess' passing in 1990. Doris enjoyed being a member of TGG Club and Lunch Bunch for many years. Her faith, family, friends, neighbors, and the welfare of animals were the most important things in her life. Being a grandmother to Dakota was one of her greatest joys.
Doris is survived by her daughter Teddi (Elias) Karthan of Ankeny and granddaughter Dakota Karthan of Des Moines.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jess, and half-sister Norma.
