Dezerra Bruce Obituary (2013)

Dezerra Eileen Bruce, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2013. Visitation for Dezerra will be Tuesday, July 23, 2013 from 6-8p.m. at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle, Iowa. Memorial Services will be at 10:00a.m. Wednesday at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. Dezerra was born in Lovilia, Iowa on August 17, 1921 to Alex and Lydia Blight Davison. She was joined in marriage to Allen Bruce in 1948. She was a member of the Palmyra Stitchery Club, the former Palmyra Church, and the Hartford Presbyterian Church. She was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, playing games and made quilts for all of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed preparing family meals and attending family functions. She is survived by her husband Allen, of rural Carlisle, her daughters Karen (Gary) Sinclair of Carlisle, Judy Russell of West Des Moines, and Nadine (Doug) Kohn of Norwalk. She has 7 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters (Mancel, William, Anna, Gwendolyn, and Artemis), and her sons, David Allen and Ron Edward.
