Dennis Craig

Dennis Craig passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024 in Des Moines, Iowa. A Celebration of Life and Military Honors, will be held at a later date in May.

Dennis was born on May 17, 1948 in Des Moines, Iowa Lester and Doris (Goddard) Craig.

Dennis graduated from Des Moines Tech High School. He went on to attend Iowa State University, Grandview College and DMACC. Dennis was drafted into the Army on April 1, 1968. He served one year before becoming a radio operator with the 101st Airborne. Dennis served 1 year in Vietnam. He worked the freight industry for 32 years, before retiring from YRC Freight (Yellow Corp).

Dennis had many hobbies, including, woodworking. His passion was jewelry and keepsake boxes. Dennis was forever completing projects around the house. He loved his motorcycles and when possible, enjoyed the freedom of the open road. Although he never completed one of his car restoration projects, it never stopped him from dreaming. We enjoyed our years spent as snow birds. We met so many wonderful people we now call our friends. His family and friends meant the world to him, and he would do anything for anyone who asked him for help. Dennis was devoted to his daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his entire family.

Dennis is survived by his wife Barbara Craig; daughter, Jody (Craig) Dickerson and her husband Seth Dickerson; grandchildren, Chelsea Wilson (daughter of Amy), Grace Dickerson, Zachery Dickerson, Thomas Dickerson; and great grandchildren, Cameron Dunkin, Rosalie Allen, and Adeline Allen.

Dennis was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy (Craig) Wilson, great granddaughter Clarity Allen; parents, Lester and Doris Craig; brother, Jerry Craig; nephew, Aaron Craig; sisters in law, Sandy Craig and Patty Craig
