Milo, Iowa
Cindy Marie Wineland (Brungardt), 66, of Milo, Iowa, was born May 5, 1960, in Newton, Iowa, to Alfred and Judy Brungardt.
Cindy spent many years as a homemaker raising her family. Later, she worked at Progress Industries, where she cared for individuals with disabilities.
Cindy was outspoken, funny and completely herself. She had a great sense of humor and was also known for being a little gullible, which gave her family plenty of opportunities to tease and play pranks on her over the years. She was always a good sport, and those moments became some of the stories her family loved to laugh about together.
She enjoyed sewing, shopping, reading, gardening and bird watching. She also loved watching wrestling and cheering on the Indiana Fever. Cindy’s favorite was taking pictures and rarely missed an opportunity to have her camera out. While she took pictures of just about everything, her favorites were the candid moments she captured of her grandchildren and family.
Cindy shared 34 years with her husband, Barry. Over those years, they built a life together filled with love, laughter and plenty of little everyday moments that were uniquely theirs. Cindy could usually talk Barry into just about anything, and he was always willing to do the little things that made her happy.
More than anything, Cindy loved her family. Her grandchildren held an especially important place in her heart, and she loved them fiercely. She enjoyed spending time with them, watching them grow and, of course, taking plenty of pictures along the way.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Barry Wineland; her daughters, Jill Heck (Travis Babcock), Julie Heck (Travis Frazier), Jacki Heck (Ed Roybal), and KC Rawlings (Dan Church); grandchildren, Lexie, Chance, Emily, Matt, Lucas, Makayla, Kodis, Kaya, and Cheyenne; her brother, Mike (Jodi) Brungardt; and sisters, Diana (Lee) Smith and Lori (Dennis) Coulson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Judy Brungardt.
Cindy will be remembered for her sense of humor, her strong personality, the pictures she was always taking and the love she had for her family. She leaves behind countless photographs and even more memories of family gatherings, laughter, teasing and ordinary moments spent together.
Most of all, she will be remembered for how much she loved her family and how much she was loved in return.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Peterson Funeral Home in Indianola, Iowa. Family and friends are invited to come together to remember Cindy and celebrate her life.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Cindy’s daughter, Julie Heck, on behalf of the family.
