Charles David Rawson, 73, of Washington, Iowa passed away on November 24, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle, Iowa. A visitation will be held at 10:00am prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will take place at Hartford Cemetery immediately following services. \r\nCharlie was born on July 2, 1948 in Warren County, Iowa to Edward and Betty (Goode) Rawson. He graduated from Carlisle High School. After finishing school, Charlie joined the United States Army, bravely serving his country in Vietnam. He was employed with the US Postal Service and farmed outside of Sigourney for many years. After retirement, he became an avid runner, completing the coveted Bix 7 after turning 70 years old. Charlie had a big heart and loved animals. He loved to read about politics and religion; studying the bible and strengthening his faith. Charlie loved his family and truly loved being around his grandchildren. \r\nCharlie is survived by his children, Larry (Cindy) Deitrich, David (Karen) Rawson, Sabrina (William) Watts, and Katie Bean; grandchildren, Kayla Hughes, Jonathan Rawson, and Andrew Rawson; brothers, Edward Rawson, Sandra Pettijohn, and Phil Rawson; Step-mother, Beverly Claman; and numerous half-brothers sisters.\r\nCharlie was preceded in death by his parents.
