Charles "Chuck" Richard Fisher, 74, of Des Moines, passed away on July 22, 2021 in Des Moines, Iowa. A celebration of Life gathering for Chuck will be held Monday, July 26, 2021 from 5:00-7:00PM at Peterson Funeral Home in Indianola. A private family burial will take place at Iowa Veteran's Cemetery.\r\n\r\nChuck was born May 31, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa to Wilson and Alice (Smallwood) Fisher. After graduating from East High School he served in the US Navy and was a proud veteran. Chuck had a number of jobs over the years but was employed for many years with Des Moines Public Schools Transportation, from where he retired. Chuck always had a smile, a joke, a hello for everyone, and could make friends wherever he went. He enjoyed cooking, having coffee with friends and family, and reading the daily funny papers. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and loved collecting Betty Boop items. His three loves were his wife Mary, five children and his grandchildren, but also in later years his great-grandchildren. \r\n\r\nChuck was survived by his wife Mary, children; Janel (Paul), Chad (Shirley), David, Chad (Nancy), and Vincent (Susie), grandchildren; Brandi, Tony, Lacie, Justin, Aimee, Jordan, Taylor, Destiny, Mason, Camryn, Ethan, Brianne, Devin, Olivia, Tucker, Emily, and Vinnie, as well as 23 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings and siblings-in-law Wayne, Jeannie, Esta, Bob, and Stephen, as well as many nieces and nephews. \r\n\r\nChuck was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Wilson (Sonny), infant son Robert and in-laws Hazel and Gene Chapman.
