Berdine McKenzie Obituary (1920

Helen Berdine McKenzie, 93 of Des Moines, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Ramsey Village in Des Moines. Helen was born December 4, 1920 in Moulton, Iowa to Albert and Ruby (Baber) Rogers. Helen married James McKenzie and raised 4 children. Helen was preceded in death by her husband James, her parents Albert and Ruby Rogers, brothers; Lyle, Garland and Marvin Rogers, James E. and Marcia McKenzie, parents in-law and 1 great grandson Michael Randolph. Helen is survived by her daughters; Sharon (Dan) Yerington of Des Moines, Teresa McKenzie of Bondurant and Janice (Larry) Fife of Carlisle, son Roger (Judy) of Queen Creek, AZ, 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Helen was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother who had a special place in her heart for all her grand kids. She was a great caregiver to her pets, gardens and those in need. Helen's family wishes to thank the staff at Ramsey Village for the care and concern they gave our mother. Family visitation for Helen will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Missionary Baptist Church in Carlisle with visitation to begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow services in the Sunset Cemetery in Moulton, Iowa.
